Project 119 ~ Light the Path

My daughter and I looked over possible ways to help others through Gospel for Asia. She decided she'd like to raise money for people who need Bibles. There are pastors and missionaries in Asia who don't even own Bibles, and they are desperate for them!

She started the campaign on November 19th. My husband and I advertised it on our Facebook pages and got a really great response. We also spread the news by word of mouth. In just 13 days she reached her goal. In fact she raised 10% more than her goal...enough to buy 130 Bibles!

People left very nice comments on my daughter's web page. She was able to be an inspiration to others, and they were an encouragement to her.

There are many things you can support through this organization and it's really easy to set up your own personal campaign. Click here to check out all the options. Have fun thinking of different ways to raise the money!

Operation Christmas Child

On November 18th, my family headed to Target to buy Christmas gifts. They were for children who would most likely not be receiving anything except for what we gave them. We filled up two shoe box sized containers, one for a girl and one for a boy.

We had so much fun picking out practical things like toothbrushes and wash cloths, and fun things like markers and small toys. I was glad that my kids could see how things that we don't even think of as special, such as toothpaste, could be a wonderful gift to a child across the world. We shouldn't take anything for granted!

The next morning the boxes were left at a church nearby where there was a drop off for "Operation Christmas Child". We just barely missed the deadline! You can still give online if you click here.

I love people's stories. Watch this video to hear the story of a girl who had received a box when she was young, and now as an adult was able to deliver boxes to other children!

Christmas Shoe Project

My family was able to purchase 10 pairs of brand new shoes for only $36! Shoes for children who live in extremely dirty places, and are in desperate need of them!

My kids and I heard about the "Christmas Shoe Project" on a program called Life Today. When my daughter saw the children's feet and the terrible pain they endure, she wanted to give! The shoes help them from getting horrible infections that can cause very serious problems. After about a month of my daughter saving any money she received (which isn't a whole lot for a nine year old), the rest of the family pitched in and we donated.

Even though I just punched a debit card number into the computer, the kids were so excited! They had the biggest smiles and were shouting, "We did it!" I loved seeing the joy in their faces because they were able to help. I could only imagine the joy in the children's faces who would be receiving the shoes!
